Construction, maintenance and painting specialist Seddon Group, which has local offices in Summer Lane, Birmingham B19 and in Walsall Road, Perry Barr, has launched a major recruitment drive for new apprentices in the Birmingham area.

As youth unemployment continues to hit new heights, Seddon is offering apprenticeships in trades including bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating and maintenance. The company will recruit 75 trainees across the UK this year to mark its 75th anniversary of supporting and recruiting apprentices.

Birmingham-based Seddon Construction business unit manager Richard Sapcote says: "We are committed to training the next generation – we’ve been doing it successfully for 75 years - and this is a chance for young people with the right attitude and potential to start to build a career with our support.”

The company’s apprentices are guided by an apprentice manager who mentors them throughout their training and supports their college-based learning. On site they work alongside qualified tradespeople and benefit from their expertise. The company’s apprentice microsite www.apprentices.seddon.co.uk gives more information about training, qualifications and an online application form.

27 April deadline for Seddon apprenticeship applications
This year’s deadline for applications is Friday, 27 April 2012. Candidates must be available for selection trials in August 2012 and ready to enrol for their college course in September 2012.
