Seddon hires Wootton as Regional Director

Builder and developer Seddon has appointed Ed Wootton as its new Regional Director for North West Construction, as the firm combines its family values with commercial acumen to target ambitious growth.

Wootton joins the £190 million turnover firm from Galliford Try, where he began his career as a graduate trainee engineer 22 years ago.

"This is an extremely exciting opportunity and one that I could not pass up,” said Wootton, who will now head up the division based at Seddon’s North West offices in Bolton.

"The company has been involved in a number of prominent projects including One City Place in Chester and will soon commence on site with schemes for Stockport Council and Pegasus Life in Wilmslow. I look forward to growing Seddon’s portfolio of work with major retailers and leading developers.”

Wootton will also head up Seddon’s small works, maintenance and painting divisions which have recently been successful in securing a series of major contracts for clients such as Co-operative Food and Premier Inn hotels as well as securing a place on all lots on the North West Construction Hub Low Value Framework.

Seddon’s latest appointment comes as it grows and restructures its board nationally.

The firm’s first major restructure since the Seddon Group divided into three businesses in 2013 has seen the appointment of regional directors each leading divisions in Bolton, Birmingham, Stoke and North Wales.

In the past two years, Seddon has bolstered its senior team with the appointments of Eamonn Burns and Steve Davies to head up the firm’s Midlands operations, along with Duncan Williams as Regional Housing Director at its North West offices.

Jonathan Seddon, Managing Director of Seddon, said that the high-profile appointments and restructured board is helping the family run firm to combine its traditional values, with commercial acumen to achieve its regional plans.

Jonathan said: "Ed’s appointment lays down a marker for the future of the company. We are delighted to have attracted someone of his calibre to our team.

"We have built Seddon on strong family values and it is these, along with our heritage, that have allowed us to attract some of the strongest leaders and talent the construction industry has to offer.

"It is an exciting time for Seddon as we bring together our family heritage with commercial expertise to grow, win new prestigious contracts and continue to develop first-rate talent through our apprenticeship programmes.”
